I don't read every single topic on here so forgive me if I'm wrong or if it has yet to be confirmed, but there's some buzz about hot swapping between Lips and Lips #1 Hits being the only option of playing the songs from the first game. If this is true, this has got to be one of the most stupid things I've ever heard. Honestly, who wants to have to switch discs between songs? 90% of the Lips players seem to already be complaining about the ridiculous load times and lag between menus and whatnot and now we have to change the discs to switch between the songs on the first disc and the songs on the second disc? Let's face it, we all have short attention spans and most of us are too lazy to switch discs on every second song so if this is a case and we do have to swap discs, well... this is absolutely disgusting. Who the hell thought this was a good idea? Seriously. I'm not saying to get rid of the disc swap options for those poor saps with the 20GB HDs and Mr.Boyscout "I don't mind. This is a great idea to not offer the option of ripping the original Lips disc to the drive, Microsoft, golly gee whiz.", who'll probably get lynched on this forum for saying that, by the way. We've all put up with iNiS' crap for the past few months, now our songs are limited to 2 a week, poor song choices, etc, but this is absolutely stupid. Doesn't anyone else think so or am I crazy and alone on this one?

Its a great idea about ripping the songs to the HDD, but i wouldn't hold your breath. most of us would just be happy being able to play the songs on the Lips disk, not just the Lips DLC. I'm just looking forward to some good new songs.

I agree - it will totally destroy the concept if you have to shift discs all the time.
It is a must that the original songs can be imported and played while using the #1 game.
If not, then I won´t spend another MS point/money on this and give away my lips game to someone who has a rocky table or couch, that need stabilizing.

Going to have to disagree with you there, mik29. I don't think most of us would just be happy at all. Living with something in discontent and being happy are two different things.

I think it comes down to three possibilities:
1) They allow us to rip the songs to our HDD and charge a re-licensing fee (like Rock Band/Rock Band 2)
2) They force us to drop out of the game in order to swap discs
3) They do an install to the HDD of just the Menu interface and song snippets so that you can see all your music, but when you want to play that specific song, you need to swap discs BUT, it doesn't cost anything.
The problem with 3 is that if you want to setup a long playlist, there would need to be some way for it to pause mid playlist for you to swap discs.
Personally, I'd prefer 3, with the option to pay for 1.

I'd also take 3 with the option to pay for 1 and naturally paying for 1 immediately, only leaving 3 there as an option for the boyscouts who are "Just happy to have the honour of shelling out 60 bucks for this game. Golly gosh."

I personally think that I hope that creators actually listen to what we say in these forums.
I hope they'lll have a way of doing what Rockband 2 did with their songs from Rockband 1. The ability to pay a small fee ($5, I think it was) to take the songs from part 1 & put it into your HDD so that you'd be be able to play all of the songs with the Rockband 2 setlist. It would be easier & keep the party flowing.
I mean? Imagine everyone having a good time & then all of a sudden someone wants to sing a song from the old setlist & BAM! Gotta kill some time & the mood is pretty much gone?
I'd pay the fee & make it easier. I hope they do something as easy as that than to swap. It's too long & pointless.

Yeah im sure most would pay to transfer the songs rather than swap disk.

It's also a wonderful option for the people in the "we've had the original disc for a year now and are sick of the songs that we sing off of it" crowd.

That's cool. I just mean the people who are like "I'd be pleased as pie either way." Hey it's an open forum, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. It's like "I'm a sheep. Just herd me where you want, Mister." If we can't do it, it really is going to bother me and I think a lot of people. I think most of us have just given up hope that they actually read these forum pages and care what we're saying. We're all probably guilty of posting what songs we want to see in this game and in some goofy sense of self-worth, we have a tiny fraction of hope left that they might actually read and care and are able to pick songs that we want and are just mean and don't want to. I'm sure this isn't the case as there is probably a lot less they can do about what songs they want to put on for us than they would be about allowing us to rip the original Lips to HDD, so why then are there hundreds of people weeping about what songs they want when Microsoft and iNiS most certainly have more control over the actual mechanics of the game and implementing this Lips song migration feature and their time is better put to post on this thread instead and voice your concerns about this? It's the same thing that erks me when people actually do post, but post about how they wish an option was removed from a game such as tag team bouts in a pro-wrestling game or the ability to set invincibility or infinite lives on an arcade game. Why waste your time? So what if the option is in the game? You don't HAVE to use it. Same bloody annoying thing.

They should definitely give us the option to allow us to rip the songs to our HDD and charge a re-licensing fee. I love convenience and letting us do this would be the ideal way.

Maybe if we show enough interest in this thread, they'll actually take notice.

If it isn't featured now, they could add it in an update.

I am with you on this no swapping disc idea. we need to be able to rip the songs to our hard drive, like we can with Rock Band and just recently Guitar Hero. Just charge us a re-license fee like rock band did. I believe it was like $5.
Only 5 days until the new Lips game is released, if it isn't in the code now then we are SOL unless they release a patch down the road (which I doubt will happen). I just hope Microsoft used their head and did indeed give us the re-license fee option and allow us to put the first lips songs on the hard drive. If they didn't then they have made a very poor marketing decision.

You will have to swap out discs, and from what I understand its due to a licensing issue. I quick caught a message saying something about licensing when I was perusing through the menu. The game is a lot of fun, and the download content is very accessible. I am really enjoying it, but I have to agree. The disc swap thing is a pain in the rear.

I have just played Lips Nr1-Hits ( got my original-disc today ). You have to swap discs when not singing Nr1- Hits-Tracks or DLC. I host Lips-Parties on a regular basis and even though I´m really glad to have a bunch of nice new tracks and an improved UI ( I like it very much ), I´m afraid the disc-swap will be a real bummer. We can only hope MS and Inis will work out something soon. German-language region will get a third disc soon - They won´t be too grateful for the "dj-feeling " I assume.

Oh congrats on getting it a little early. How do you like the game so far? Is the menu less laggy? What about the load times?

Making a game like Singstar for the 360: Good!
Copying things like disc-swapping and sharing the achievements (Obviously trophies in the case of Singstar) across games instead of a new 1000G: Bad!
I didn't totally mind it in Singstar because it meant you could swap PS2 discs and still have those count toward trophies and stuff but in this case it is pretty lame. If this was going to just end up treated more like an expansion disc then they should have just done what they do with the Rock Band expansions. Make them playable standalone with 250G and also provide a code to download the songs to play with the original game.

I was very excited for Lips until I learned about the 250 achievement points, the disc swapping and similar things that mean that M$ is charging 60$ for an update...not an updated game. Why is the disc only version not widely available? How well did the original sell? With these kinds of business/game decisions, it certainly seems like they don't want to have any actual sales of this game.
Fortunately, Konami's Karaoke Revolution is coming out 1 month after this one. With a $50 price point (and no American Idol attached to this game) looks like that's the game I'll be getting. I'll have to wait for a price drop on Lips if I buy it at all.

yea #1 hits is fun and all...havn't played any of the first lips songs so havn't had to switch...but the menu sometimes freaks out a little bit...and its seems like they added harmonies....which is cool and all but i wish you could turn it off when you do duet's and stuff cause one person will do the harmony and lets be honest they arn't the easiest thing to do...but its cool avatar support is cool...the DLC works for both...if the disc swaping is annoying as everyone says it is i hope they do like rock band and do a fee...See yea guys on the leader boards
